Description

Account Designers are an integral part of the holistic customer experience, assessing customer needs, and recommending solutions to achieve their business goals. The Account Designer manages customer relationships from initial consulting through design development, furniture installation, and completion for multiple accounts as a part of a 2-person team (Senior Account 

Designer + Senior Project Coordinator). The team is responsible for RFP/Bid responses, all project and daily work order activities, driving new business opportunities through cross-selling products and services, and full customer satisfaction. Directly accountable for retention and growth of customer accounts.

Design

  • Consults with client and project team members to identify project parameters 
  • Conducts site analysis and field verification including furniture inventory 
  • Participates in key project meetings from project conception to completion 
  • Makes product and finish selections relative to the specific needs of the organization within budgetary considerations 
  • Develops furniture plans including technology, electrical and communication data for use with project team members including the client, architects and designers, contractors and sub- contractors 
  • Follows all local, state and national building codes as they relate to the workplace space plan, furniture and finishes to ensure proper ergonomics and workplace safety 
  • Develops detailed furniture plans, renderings and finish schedules to ensure clear communication of all proposed furniture layouts, products and finishes 
  • Develops detailed specifications for furniture, finishes and accessories. Double checks all specifications for accuracy
  • Reviews documentation of all client approved work for design, accuracy and completeness prior to order entry 
  • Creates detailed installation documents for furniture and finishes for both internal and external use 
  • Attends and participates in workplace, product and design software seminars and training sessions to help facilitate professional growth 
  • Works collaboratively with other colleagues to achieve goals related to project quality and process while maintaining client expectations 

Customer/Account Servicing 

  • Provides timely response to customer’s requests for products, services and/or information 
  • Maintains comprehensive understanding of customer’s needs, corporate goals, business practices and satisfaction/performance criteria 
  • Is responsible for on-going relationships with client personnel and client third parties (contractors, A&D firms, etc.) 
  • Provides frequent and regular status updates to customer regarding project and work order status 
  • Attends project and account meetings as necessary 

Sales Order Management 

  • Develop typicals, layouts, and product specifications in conjunction with internal project services and outside parties, including furniture manufacturers, sales reps, and A&D firms 
  • Provides presentation and explanation to customer of products and services 
  • Introduces new products and services to grow and expand business 
  • Maintains project budget and guarantees business profitability through accurate costs and sell amounts for all product and services based on contract pricing, gross margin guidelines, and established service pricing 
  • Produces timely, detailed, and accurate project quotes to customer 
  • Ensures documentation standards are maintained for all account activities; ensures dealership process and procedures are followed 

Project & Work Order Management  

  • Oversees all customer projects and work orders, ensuring standards of performance are met 
  • Manages and coordinates dealer team for implementation of customer orders and service requests including designers, project managers, installation managers, customer representatives/project coordinators, installation crews, etc. 
  • Reviews work plans, schedules, and logistics established for customer’s projects 
  • Coordinates with client third parties 
  • Ensures timely invoicing and project closeout; assists with collecting account payables for completed projects

Requirements

  • Degree in Interior Design 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required, CET Designer experience is a plus 
  • Knowledge of space planning and furniture layouts 
  • Systems specification skills and contract furniture experience is highly preferred 
  • Experience with Project Matrix/Project Spec or other similar specification tool is desired 
  • Proficient in budgeting and pricing commercial furniture 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is beneficial 
  • Ability to work in a team environment while also being self-motivated with minimal supervision 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • Detailed oriented 
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently 
  • Familiar with office environment issues and trends 
  • Remote work available 2-3 days per week
