Position Summary:

Kristan International Inc. is a 30 year old retained executive search firm headquartered in Houston with an excellent reputation and track record in conducting domestic as well as international retained leadership search projects for various global organizations and private enterprises in a broad array of industries including world renowned clients in contract furnishings. We have been retained once again by a highly applauded progressive manufacturing organization to conduct a national search assignment for Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations will oversee all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities to ensure customer orders are manufactured on-schedule and within quality standards and costs objectives, while maintaining a high-quality workforce. This is a hands-on executive role responsible for leading all aspects of Manufacturing Operations including production planning processes, purchasing/supply chain, manufacturing engineering, production, inventory, material handling/warehousing, shipping, and maintenance. As a key member of the Senior Management team, the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations will lead a team of 10+ direct reports and a total staff of 150 + members and will develop and spearhead the strategy to drive quality, efficiencies, scalability, and growth within manufacturing operations, while in alignment with the company’s core values, strategies and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and leadership for all facets of manufacturing and operational services of our client’s products while building, motivating and mentoring a high-performance team.
  • Ensures the on-time production of high-quality products in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement and drives best practices, team transparency and collaboration throughout all manufacturing, maintenance, and operational services operations.
  • Develops the vision and communicates long and short-term plans for manufacturing in alignment with company goals and ensures the successful execution of these plans.
  • Drives the implementation of new manufacturing processes, product, and systems technology to meet the division’s objectives.
  • Develops the annual operating budget and executes plans to maintain budgetary targets and meet or exceed targets for production and COGS reduction.
  • Participates in Senior Management functions to provide functional representation in the development and execution of short-term and long-term business plans and in addressing immediate business issues.
  • Acts as Change Leader in support of strategic initiatives while promoting a culture of collaboration in a dynamic environment.
  • Identifies patterns and problem bottleneck areas and implements effective solutions to increase efficiency.
  • Works closely with Human Resources to develop a strategy to identify, hire and retain talent to ensure a stable and productive work force.
  • Establishes clear goals and objectives and provides ongoing feedback regarding performance against objectives.

Experience & Key Characteristics

  • Ten + years of successful manufacturing/operations management experience with a progressive manufacturing organization preferred.
  • Compelling evidence of operations leadership success as well as professional depth in identifying, developing, motivating and retaining top talent.
  • Demonstrated record of implementing change, driving cost improvements, and increasing efficiencies.
  • A compelling leadership track record building budgets, strategic planning, resource management, and cross-functional team communication.
  • Demonstrated record of creative problem solving and an ability to thrive in fast-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong beliefs in ownership, accountability, ethics, and transparency.
  • Superior verbal and written communications, analytical, team building, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including keen attention to detail.
  • Must possess a relentless passion for excellence and unquestionable personal integrity.
  • B.S. Degree in Manufacturing Operations related field (e.g., Engineering) preferred. MBA is preferred as well.
  • Technology proficiency and MS Office Suite, MRPs other tools and systems, and analytical tools.
