As the Director of Product Development, you will be responsible for the strategic product plan for our main business units. In that role, you will build our product portfolio by overseeing inventory selection and product design while defining each category’s full lifecycle. The ideal candidate will quickly develop a keen understanding of our customer, important market trends and how to lead improvement efforts through a team of direct reports and cross-functional partners.


  • Manage, motivate, and serve a team of 5 direct reports to drive the mission and provide a singular and clear voice to the organization.
  • Work closely with Sales Leadership to perpetuate our brand while ensuring a robust offering to a diverse customer base, as well as to newly identified market growth opportunities.
  • Own the selection and development process from concept through execution in close collaboration with advocates from Sales and Operations to fulfill their product needs while fostering an understanding of the vision.
  • Deep understanding of how our customers utilize our furniture and be able to conceptualize new and innovative product offerings
  • Possess the ability to create a wide and versatile product offering using common and interchangeable SKU components maximizing asset utilization and versatility to the customer
  • Source new, and nurture existing, supplier relationships to develop a diversified base of offshore and domestic partners who can best provide uncompromising quality and service, as well as product line continuity.
  • Develop tiered pricing strategies that optimize gross margin, capture market share prospects and position business development teams to leverage upsell and cross-sale opportunities.
  • Proactively monitor all forms of competition and initiate / implement appropriate responses.
  • Establish statistical markers for each product category’s lifecycle from selection through all Rental and Retail phases to maintain a vital inventory and ensure financial goals are met.
  • Inspect all product specifications and samples to ensure that we are achieving the expected level of quality, and continually striving to enhance the design.
  • Rigorously maintain quality control standards, in conjunction with Best Practice stakeholders, that result in best-in-class customer satisfaction and overall sustainability.
  • Provide detailed information to the Marketing team that supports all outreach initiatives.
  • Provide cost estimates and financial analysis for all products in development to senior leadership.
  • Create and implement product training for field Operations and Sales teams.


  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years product management/product development, supplier/partner management, and product development experience
  • Strong preference for experience in the furniture industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite, product design & layout creation
  • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver with excellent analytic skills
  • Strong project and people management skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to meet deadlines
  • Accuracy with detailed follow up
  • Strong written and verbal skills in English
  • 25-35% travel is expected for this position with international travel required as needed
